I've just spent 30 minutes reading some comments and responding to a few, but something I didn't see anybody bring up, but which reinforces the GENERAL perspective of this article is this:
Over the past few years, public health officials all over the world have had much more access to the airwaves due to COVID-19. How often have you heard them promoting the merits of good exercise, diet or sleep? Or even more, meditation and breathwork?
It's funny because there is a clip of Dr. Fauci doing something along those lines pre-2020, but it seems like once the CV19 response crisis was plugging up the airwaves, folks like Fauci stopped talking about these VERY important, natural, usually FREE ways to KEEP in good health.
Much as I know these folks wanted to stick on CV19, it seems to me that in a public health crisis when you are being given lots of air time, using at least a little of that to reinforce general good health practices would be on one's agenda.
Last, as someone who has been through some periods of depression--absolutely, once you are in that state, exercise and such isn't going to be a cure-all. I think the overall point is that making exercise part of one's daily routine, especially outdoors if possible, can lead to better, overall health and may help people from getting depressed in the first place.
Anyway, solid article on an important topic and I'm glad so many are reading and chiming in.
