Indeed. I started to experience a shift into toxic responses by Democratic faithful in 2015 when, for the first time in my life, I was repeatedly called a misogynist merely because I felt Bernie Sanders was a better candidate than Hillary Clinton. I've had deep friends from college shut me out of their lives for merely questioning some of the narratives that they believe in, all while they point the finger at the same awful behavior in MAGA folks. This disease of Othering runs deep in people right now and it's non-partisan.
Having said all of that, yes, it gives me some hope to see a writer like Jessica opening her eyes AND writing about it. That second part is KEY. I congratulate her courage.
