I REALLY miss Joe Bageant!! Not only his excellent writing but I really loved hearing him on podcasts, he was such a lively rascal with a heart of gold. I feel like the closest thing we have now is Thomas Frank; he's also a great listen and read. Too many commentators take this nonsense too seriously; I don't fully trust those who don't have some sense of humor about the absurdity of it all.
