I don't disagree that the events you described were part of the pathway to Trump, but, just like Umair, you conveniently leave out the recent history where the Democrats, after getting their asses handed to them in the 1984 election, sold their middle- and working-class base out to chase Big Money so that now in the 2020s, BOTH parties are captured. In other words, democracy is in A LOT bigger trouble than Umair suggests when he rails against only one side of this two-headed monster.
