Hi RJ . Thank you for writing this!
It’s funny, over the past few months, this album has only grown in meaning and importance to me. Don’t get me wrong, I liked it from the get-go, but I feel that the issue of loss that it deals with, as well as the hope it provides while reckoning with that loss relates to not only my own life but to world events. It seems our species is transitioning from one world to another and while personally, I’ve been excited about this, there are still things of that old world that may be hard to let go of. Perhaps what the past few months has provided for many of us is an opportunity to take stock and determine what things we want to bring forward and what to leave behind.
Anyway, was happy to see someone had given this album the heartfelt treatment it deserves and when I saw it was you, host of one of my favorite music podcasts, I was extra pleased . (And for anyone else who happens to read this, it is the Helping Phriendly Podcast focused on Phish and RJ also runs the excellent Osiris Media Network – tons of other great music and cultural podcasts to dig into it!).
