David Fuller : First, I want to thank you for all of your excellent work at Rebel Wisdom. I first learned about your site maybe a year ago, but it wasn’t really until April this year that I fully began to explore it. It’s been critical in helping me on my own journey through these challenging, transformative times. In particular, the Sensemaking series (I especially love Daniel Schmachtenberger, though saying his name is a blast, spelling it is, umm…think I nailed it this time.)
Okay, enough ass-kissing, but wait: I also want to say that I’m excited to see you do a series where you explore art that has been transformative to you. Funny thing is, I’ve heard of James but, as a Yank, they were never that big in the U.S. and I only heard “Laid,” so I am very excited to dig into them as they come from a scene and sound I do much enjoy.
Anyway, I’m also an artist and journalist, though I gave up the journalism field back in 2000 due to both my own transformative journey through the world of drug addiction as well as my sense back then that the journalism field was going to be very hard to sustain in. That said, I’m re-dabbling in it, with podcasts and Medium posts and, I hope, a non-fiction book about the “2020 Experience” (if only I could get Jimi Hendrix to play lead guitar on it! Ha ha.).
Okay, brother, thanks again, I quit enjoyed this essay and am now listening to “Government Walls” and quite like this tune, both musically and lyrically. Going to be fun exploring them. I also want to do a podcast exploring art from a deeper, more spiritual perspective but suspect my choices would be somewhat different from a UK person’s (though I’ve been living in Japan since 2004 and so my cultural influences are more global than they used to be living in the US). Anyway, will watch this episode and hope to see more of this (but keep up the sensemaking series, those are super important from my perspective.).
Yours,
Bryan
